IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) permanent hair reduction is the most advanced and effective method for silky smooth, hair-free skin. IPL hair removal is a faster, less expensive alternative to laser hair removal, with the same results!
IPL works by sending a wavelength of light through the top layer of skin to the layer where hair follicles (roots) reside. The use of the light destroys hair follicles in the growth stage and limits the possibility of re-growth, without causing any harm to the surrounding skin. At any given time, the body has “dormant” hair follicles that are not currently in the growth stage; therefore, several treatments may be required to eliminate all hair follicles in the treated area. Although the number of treatments required for maximum results will vary from individual to individual, improved hair reduction is seen with each additional treatment.
The advanced technology of IPL allows for safe exposure to even the most delicate areas of skin, such as the lips and face. Because IPL specifically targets the hair follicle, the surface of the skin remains completely undamaged. IPL is most effective on darkly pigmented hairs on lightly colored (non-tanned) skin.

Latisse is the only prescription medication that is FDA approved for treatment of small or thin eyelash growth. Latisse increases the percent of hairs in and the duration of eyelash growth phase, leading to significantly longer, fuller and darker eyelashes.
Latisse is a topical solution that is applied daily at home. A special applicator is used to safely and easily administer a drop of solution to the base of the upper eyelids. Latisse works gradually; lashes will begin to appear fuller, thicker and darker in as little as 8 weeks, with full results seen in 12 to 16 weeks.

Juvederm is a prescription medication that is used to soften deep folds and facial wrinkles. Juvederm is a long-lasting injectable filler prepared from hyaluronic acid, a natural component of the skin that adds volume and hydration. As the skin ages, naturally occurring hyaluronic acid decreases, causing the formation of deep folds and wrinkles. Juvederm restores hyaluronic acid in the skin, smoothing the face for a more youthful appearance. Juvederm is most effective in smoothing “smile lines” (the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth) and may also be used to add volume to areas that have lost fullness with time (your lips, for example).
Juvederm is administered by a trained healthcare professional as a series of small injections under the skin. Some mild pain may be experienced during the injections – a topical anesthetic can be applied to minimize discomfort, but is usually not necessary. Slight swelling, tenderness, or redness may occur at the injection site, but normal activities can be resumed immediately following the procedure. The entire process generally takes only 10 to 15 minutes.
Improvement in the appearance of wrinkles and folds can be seen immediately. Although individuals vary, most patients need only one treatment to achieve optimal smoothing, with results lasting up to a full year. A personalized plan will be discussed with your healthcare provider during your consultation.

A pediatric dermatologist specializes in treating skin, hair and nail problems in children.
We are pleased to have Dr. Jill Nelson, one of very few board certified Pediatric Dermatologists in the country, and the only dermatologist with board certification and fellowship training in Pediatric dermatology in the area. Dr. Nelson has an additional seven years of sub specialized training in dermatology, pediatric dermatology and pediatrics, and is board certified in all three areas.
Dr. Nelson views children as unique individuals and not just small adults. She understands that the treatments and approaches used for adults are not always best for children. Dr. Nelson will strive to accurately diagnose your child’s condition while working with you to help you understand your child’s condition and how to manage it. She is committed to making every experience positive for both children and parents.
Some of the common conditions a pediatric dermatologist treats include birthmarks, port wine stains and spider angiomas, moles, hemangiomas, acne, warts, molluscum, rashes, atopic dermatitis/eczema, psoriasis, and skin infections such as impetigo and fungal infections. Although skin cancer is extremely rare in children, Dr. Nelson commonly screens children with risk factors for skin cancer, including family history of atypical moles or melanoma, children with high numbers of moles or freckles and children with birth moles (congenital nevi).
Dr. Nelson performs some simple procedures for children in her clinic. For younger or more anxious children procedures are often scheduled at Children’s Hospital in Omaha. A consultation appointment is required before surgery is performed or scheduled (for moles, birth marks and laser treatments). Some simple in office biopsies can be done at the time of evaluation.
