We are extremely pleased that you have chosen us for your dermatological needs. The following information regarding financial matters should be helpful to you in understanding our billing process.

Insurance Plans
Dermatology Specialists of Omaha, LLC participates with all major local and national health plans. However, an occasional health plan may not offer participation to physicians in the area.
It is the patients responsibility to make sure the provider you are seeing is a participating provider with your health plan. Some health care plans may not cover services such as removal of benign or non-irritated growths. These would be considered cosmetic and payment is due at the time of treatment.
- Skin checks are not considered “preventative” when they are performed by dermatologist because they are specialists. The patient must check with their insurance plan if a skin exam performed in a dermatology clinic will be considered preventative.
- Skin Tags are often removed as a cosmetic procedure. Up until recently some were covered by insurance plans if they were irritating and medically necessary. Patients will want to check with their insurance plan on coverage.
Medicare
Medicare may not consider all services medically necessary such as removal of benign or non-irritated growths. These would be considered cosmetic and payment is due at the time of treatment.

In this era of increasing electronic communication, we still feel that an e-mail is no substitute for face-to-face, personal interaction between a physician and patient. Therefore, we do not answer questions regarding specific medical conditions or treatments by e-mail correspondence. It is an inaccurate approach that does not comply with modern privacy requirements and medical legal guidelines.
